Riverview's connection to the Phillipines began when founder LouElla Nace travelled to Africa as a medical missions nurse. While there, she met some exceptionally caring and talented nurses from the Phillipines. As this friendship grew during their years of joint service in Africa, LouElla began to hope that these wonderful nurses and their families might one day be able to enjoy the freedom and hope that America offers.

It took years - and miles of red tape - to make it happen, but Riverview has been pleased to welcome these nurses, their families, and some of their friends into our lives and hearts.

As both staff members and volunteers, our Filipino friends have shared their culture, talents, remarkably compassionate care, and friendship with our residents and staff. They are active members in both the Riverview and Flandreau community, and we are blessed to count them as colleagues and friends.

As these families have become eligible to enjoy the privileges and responsibility of American citizenship, Riverview is proud to enthusiastically showcase America's newest citizens. We can't wait to add to this list!
