Riverview's Resident Christmas Party and Precious Moments Nativity

Each Christmas Eve, our annual resident Christmas party is the jolly highpoint of Riverview's holiday festivities. This year's program was brimming with cheer, including caroling and hymns, a dramatic performance by Darcy Kennedy, holiday trivia and readings, performances by Riverview's Resident Rhythm Band, our Precious Moments live nativity, and a surprise visit from "Mrs. Claus."

Mrs. Claus, channeled by activity assistant Bev Mason, was escorted by two very special North Pole elves. Our residents truly enjoyed this unexpected burst of Christmas joy and mirth!

Given the abundance of holiday fun, our residents, their families, staff, and volunteers were soon ready to proclaim "Joy to the World" as we honored the miracle of Jesus' birth while celebrating the merriment of the Christmas season.

Family Corner Spotlight: 'Twas the Season of Christmas

Riverview's residents may appreciate presents under the tree, but it's another gift that they truly hold dear . . . a gift that can't be wrapped, purchased, or ever returned: the gift of family. This Christmas, many of our residents shared the joys of the holiday season with their loved ones, and these captured family moments illustrate the following:

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other."
~ author Burton Hillis ~

Decking Riverview's Halls

If you've had the opportunity to visit Riverview this holiday season, you've probably noticed our wonderful Christmas decorations throughout the building. From the light display twinkling outside our residents' windows, seen below on a snowy evening, to our beautiful Christmas trees - we've brought the festive spirit of the season both indoors and out for our residents to enjoy.

This year, stars of wonder were brought even closer to our residents as Mario Velasquez, Riverview's maintenance director, designed traditional Filipino star decorations as a personal gift for Riverview's residents. These hanging stars can be seen in the Activity Room and outside the building's main entrance. Thank you, Mario, for sharing your talent and time with our residents, for "lighting up our life" - quite literally(!), and for creating a joyous starburst for all to enjoy. Merry Christmas, indeed!
